HTML 5 is simply an addon over legacy system HTML4.

In simple words, it is a latest version of HTML standard (Hyper Text Markup Language).

As we all know that Every OS(Operating System) and Browser follow/compliance this standard.

HTML5 brought many changes in it.

Like we didn't had anything powerful for dealing with graphics and audio/video formats.

So that's why we had to use such type of plugins like Flash and Silverlight.

As we see everything depends on two major factors :

1> Look and Feel

2> Efficiency/Performance

Flash and Silverlight provides sufficient power to our browsers

so that our web applications could run more smoothly

,trying to act similar to our desktop application and booast up the system.

We had not any good mechanism to deal in depth with audio/video formats.

You could see youtube and vidoe tutorial section of MSND.

Youtube handles videos in Flash and Microsoft handles in Silverlight.

But now HTML5 provides these kind of things in itself.

Now you don't need to install falsh player and Silverlight plugins.

Html5 offers SVG (Scalar Vector Graphics) and other powerful features.

We could work on audio/video formats now.

All big verdors(IBM and Microsof) decided now to meet on single platform.

CSS3.0 has been released now for the support of HTML5 and JQuery is now grown more mature.

Now we could create an independent application which conformes to all platforms.

Different Games have been launched in web market now.(just in Jquery through HTML5).
