China Telecom local time confirmed its plans to carry the iPhone 4S. The phone will be obtainable on March 9 with preorders beginning a week earlier, on March 2. Prices will start out at free on a contract for the 16GB iPhone 4S.

Both official resellers and China Telecom's website will carry the device.

iPhone sales have grown-up fast in China, it was yield ground to Android as companies like Huawei, Lenovo, and ZTE could sell to China Telecom and China Mobile.

As the second-largest carrier in China, it has access to tens of millions of cellphone users.

 

The expansion was partly held back by the need for a CDMA version of the iPhone, which wasn't even an option until 2011
