You can also stop the music volume if the keyboard has mute button. But most of the system have no this type of functionality.

Create the Shortcut

For this purpose you can use the facility of NirCmd which is use various times. This is very useful for the shortcuts.

On the desktop any where right clicks on it select new and then shortcut.

The location box will open then you have to browse the location of saved  nircmd.exe  and add “mutesysvolume 2″ as argument. You will write following line in the location box,

 “C:\Path\To\nircmd.exe” mutesysvolume 2

The “2” argument tells nircmd to toggle mute so by press hotkey or shortcut you will see it’s untoggle. You can pass “1” also but this will just for mute.

Here you need to give the name of shortcut like “Toggle Mute”, then open properties, here you can define shortcut key and can change the icon of the shortcut.

You have many icons to chose but in snapshoot we have selected speaker icon.

%SystemRoot%\System32\SndVol.exe

If you are using shortcut key than shortcut icon should be on the desktop or in the Start menu. When it will be in the lunch bar the shortcut key will not work.

Now you have short cut which can mute and unmute the  system volume .
