You can do it by the system tray icon but shortcut is the fastest way to perform.
When you will do the above procedure then you can see the two icons on the desktop.
Using the powercfg Command
There is great facility available in the Window7 and Vista that these have powercfg command which can use from command prompt. So we can use it to configure the GUID,the ID which is internal that Windows uses for itself plans.
You have to write in the command prompt this following line to find pwer scheme GUID,
Powercfg -list
After writing this command you will see the power plans of your system which is assign by you and you can see the GUID also. You can copy it to the clipboard with the help of command prompt so that you can easily copy the task to GUID.
To switch between plans and command line you have to use setactive arguments which one is for creating the shortcut as described from snapshoot.
Creating the Shortcut
Right-click on the desktop and choose New \ Shortcut from the menu.
The location box will open you have to write the following for replacing the GUID
Powercfg –setactive <SCHEME_GUID>
So you can see this in the screenshot.
In the same way you can create more shortcuts for other plans.
Customize the Shortcut
So at this point there are many shortcuts for which we change the icons also as well as hotkey. There are many icons in this window DLL file:
C:\Windows\System32|powecpl.dll
Here you can also assign hotkey to this shortcut.
When you will do the above procedure then you can see the two icons on the desktop.
You can also launch it to switch the schemes with keyboard by selecting the search box from start menu.
Alternate: Use the Mobility Center
For the Mobility Center you can use Win+X hotkey which will switch the power management mode. This is not enough faster than the tray but it works.
